Barrel fermentation for Sauvignon Blanc is still in its experimental phase. This counts as an outstanding success for this method of winemaking though. Do not expect your run-of-the-mill, elderflower and gooseberry characteristics; the fruit here is mostly tropical with passionfruit, guava, and mango. The toasty characteristics from the oak are present but by no means overwhelming, giving this wine an element of complexity and length on the palate. Delicious.
