‘1717’ is a premium expression of how well the appellation of Vacqueyras makes wine.
Nestled at the foot of the Dentelles de montmirail, this provincial scrubland is swamped by sunlight and swept by the Mistral. It has produced richly concentrated grapes since the 14th Century. These fruity and powerful wines are a symphonie of flavours and fragrances raised to the prestigious level of Cru des Cotes du Rhone since 1990.
Grenache and Syrah grapes are harvested from 50+ year old vines at a strictly low yield of a miniscule 15-18 hectolitres per hectare. This produces super-concentrated wines from the extremely high quality of grapes used. Matured for up to 30 months in new French oak barrels, the wine is immediately bottled, without filtration or fining, so as to slowly develop in bottle to its true potential.
