Matured in ex-bourbon barrels (as is the norm for scotch whisky) where it acquired vanilla and toffee apple characteristics to complement the peating levels of the malt whisky. It was then racked into barrels that had been used to mature sweet moscatel wine. From these barrels it took on some “christmas pudding” notes of dried currant and sultana, bakery and burnt caramel characteristics. A fine choice.
