Casali del Barone ‘150+1’ Langhe Bianco

The rolling Piedmontese hills of the Langhe are better known for producing sumptuous reds such as Barolo or Barbaresco. Aside from the famous Gavi, 50 miles east of Alba, white wine is very much a rarity in this region.

The varietals in this Langhe Bianco consist of 90% Chardonnay and 10% Arneis, both grown in sandy limestone soil which helps give this wine a wonderful freshness and purity of character. The small addition of Arneis into the wine gives the profile a precise focus. Aged for 2 months on its lees, this Chardonnay dominant wine is well rounded with delicate bready tones and hints of butter. The fruit is pure and fresh with lots of delicate ripe stone fruit and gentle citrus.

This Langhe Bianco is a very elegant and pleasant wine which is best enjoyed in good company, with soft cheese such as Taleggio and is perfect for relaxing with after a long day.
