Chateau Batailley Pauillac

The name of Chateau Batailley comes from the word ‘bataille’ meaning ‘battle’, in memory of a clash that took place amongst the vines in 1453 during the Hundred Years War. During this period, French troops re-took possession of Chateau Latour (which was then occupied by the English), marking the end of the occupation by British troops in the Medoc.

Shaped by its rich history, the estate, as it is found today, was gradually transformed from the 16th to the 18th centuries. The Chateau grounds were designed during the reign of Napoleon III in the 19th century.

This beautiful estate is planted with all of the main Medoc varieties on a pure gravel only terroir and produces wines typical of classic Pauillac: deep ruby red colour, excellent structure, and longevity with pronounced blackcurrant overtones.

The 2015 Batailley is a blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot.
