Originally set up by the Clar family, this ancient Catalan ‘mas’ has an old cellar, now equipped with modern vinification and ageing apparatus. The vineyard covers 60 hectares across 3 of the key Roussillon terroirs and is planted with traditional grape varieties (Carignan, Grenache Blanc and Noir, Muscat of Alexandria and Petit Grain) as well as other more international varieties (Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Mourvédre, Merlot) producing aromatic wines of great regional typicity. ‘Laurinya’ is the fruit of Jean-Claude Mas’s passion for the process of identifying and understanding the great terroirs of the Languedoc. It is on the 2 hectare ‘Sioures’ plot at Château Lauriga that the Laurinya cuvée was born. It is a heady blend, dominated by excellent quality Syrah with just a touch of Carignan and Grenache Noir. The 45 year old vines are grown using farming techniques that respect the environment. The traditional vinification process is natural, followed by ageing for 14 month new in oak barrels.
