Deutz Brut Rose

Champagne is the only region in the entire EU that is allowed to blend a white wine and a red wine to create a Rose. The vast majority of producers use this method with only a small proportion using skin contact to achieve the delicate pink colour. The reason for this is not to impart any tannins into the wine and to maintain the purity and freshness.

The grapes are pressed using automatic and traditional Coquard basket presses, and only the first press must is used. The wine is fermented in small, 10,000 litre tanks, with each plot being vinified separately, at between 16 & 18 degrees centigrade for two weeks; all the wine undergoes malo-lactic fermentation. After the assemblage, the wines are then left to age on the lees for around 3 years, which softens and harmonises the aromas. Brut Rosé is a blend of the finest Pinot Noir grands crus from the Montagne de Reims, with a touch of Chardonnay. Its style and colour come from 8% of red wine produced from old vines on the hill of Ay, particularly from a plot known as “ Meurtet”.

The nose is fresh and direct, with aromas of cherries, blackberries, pomegranates and red currants. On the palate the wine shows a deliciously full body that follows on perfectly from the nose, with flavours reminiscent of strawberries and raspberries and a pleasantly well-balanced finish.
