This P.D.O. (Protected Designation of Origin) Goumenissa red wine is made using two indigenous varieties – 70% Xinomavro and 30% Negoska in the Goumenissa wine region of North Greece.
There is a pre-fermentation cold maceration for 2 days, before alcoholic fermentation at a controlled temperature, with the wine remaining together with its lees for 8 months with periodic re-stirring.
It is matured for at least 12 months in French oak barrels and then 6 months in bottle before release.
This red displays an aroma that is is complex with predominating scent of small red fruits such as blackberry, cherry, supplemented with a hint of spice, tomato, olive and vanilla.
