Guigal Cote-Rotie ‘Brune et Blonde’

The Guigal Estate, founded in 1946 by Etienne Guigal in Ampuis, boasts a unique vineyard renowned for 2,400 years.

In 1961, Marcel Guigal took over management due to his father’s sudden blindness. His wife Bernadette joined in 1973, and their son Philippe, now the Estate’s winemaker, continues the legacy with his wife Eve.

In 1995, they acquired the historic Chateau d’Ampuis, which serves as the Estate’s headquarters. Despite expansion, the family remains rooted in their small cellar where Etienne Guigal first worked.

The ‘Brune et Blonde’ wines derive their name from the vine leaves’ colours around harvest time in the Roasted Slope, Cote-Rotie.

This region’s granite bedrock contributes to the grapes’ health, warmth, and power. Despite the robustness, Guigal produces wines of elegance, complexity, and finesse.

The wine undergoes 36 months of ageing in the finest French oak, with a blend of mostly Syrah and a touch of Viognier. Co-fermentation enhances the wine’s concentration, finesse, and elegance.
