Henriques & Henriques 20yr old Terrantez

Not all Madeira wines are created equal. This is a fine old wine made from an increasingly rare grape variety that is considered a noble variety for the island despite its rarity. It has intense aromas of sultanas, walnuts, toffee, and hazelnuts. The palate is medium dry (with some sweetness) and shows sweet spice, caramel, almonds, more dried fruits and citrus peel. It has an impressively long finish. As for the nature of the winemaking – it is essentially slow baked for 20 years – it will stay in condition once the bottle is open lending its self to be virtually indestructible!

This Madeira makes for an excellent pudding wine or with creamy blue cheeses such as Stilton or Roquefort.
