Jim Barry was the Clare Valley’s first trained winemaker & what a legacy he has left behind! His son Peter manages the company to this day and is the winemaker for this wine. It is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz and a testament to the awesome power these grape varieties can muster when ripened under the Australian sun. The oak used for ageing the wine has imparted complexity and helped soften the tannins. The wine shows a full range of fruit from raspberry, to cherry, to blackcurrant, to bramble to plum – along with nutmeg and licorice characteristics from the oak, and truffle characteristics from bottle age. Magnificent.
