Domaine Adelie is named after the daughter of the current Bichot lineage, Alberic. Born in 2003, the estate was created in 2005, further anchoring the Bichot family’s roots in Burgundy from generation to generation. The Bichot family extended their vineyards to the most important village in the Cote Chalonnaise, Mercurey. Family roots in Burgundy exist as far back as 1214 but it wasn’t until 1831 that Bernard Bichot started to trade wine. Albert Bichot, third generation, cemented his name to the company in the late 19th century settling in the heart of Beaune.
The wine is aged for Bichot’s typical duration of 14-16 months in French oak but here the proportion of new oak is relatively small giving the wine a fresh feel that is fruit forward and approachable.
The nose is full of wild, fruity aromas with notes of wild berries, plum and nectarine. The palate is bursting with fresh ripe fruit flavours. The body and texture is fleshy and velvety and very smooth. It has a long, harmonious finish. This is a delightful wine to enjoy on its own or with cold meats.
