This unfiltered Late Bottled Vintage from Ramos Pinto can be treated in much the same way as a Vintage Port, insofar as it will gain further complexities with extra bottle aged. Traditional LBV cannot be aged further once in bottle and is matured for a longer period in oak to soften the wine making it ready to be consumed as soon as it hits your glass. With an unfiltered style, it is matured for around the same period as Vintage Port (approximately 18 months) but uses grapes from younger vine areas not used for Vintage Port production. As a result, the wine matures quicker in bottle, meaning half your life is not devoted to waiting for your Vintage Port to mature! Unfiltered LBV does offer tremendous value in light of the staggering prices some Ports can achieve.
This wine is made up of 51% Touriga Nacional, 40% Touriga Franca, 6% Sousao and the remaining 3% is a ‘field blend’ from a mixture of old vines.
Deep ruby in colour with an intensely fruity aroma of ripe raspberries and a hint of chocolate. Elegant on the palate, with excellent body and power. Ripe tannins and a long, decadent, anise spiced finish. We advise decanting the wine prior to drinking to remove sediment.
Presented in individual gift box.
