McQueen is a dyed-in-the-wool Otago Pinot. The wine is made from fruit grown in the three most prestigious sub-regions – Gibbston, Bendigo, and Bannockburn. This fruit is hand-harvested and brought to the winery in pristine condition where Grant Taylor makes it into wine. The wine is aged for 12 months in French oak and released as a typical wine for Central Otago. The nose and palate are marked by berry fruit characteristics from the Bendigo fruit, cherry and herbal notes from Bannockburn, and floral characteristics from the Gibbston fruit. The result is a fairly opulent wine that is drinking very well now – but will reward patience in the cellar over the next decade.
