Louis Roederer et Philippe Starck Brut Nature 2015

Champagne Louis Roederer was established in 1776 and is now run by the 7th generation of the family, Frédéric Rouzaud.  With over 240 hectares of vineyards located exclusively in Grands and Premiers Crus villages, Champagne Louis Roederer is self-sufficient for approximately 70% of their non-vintage production and 100% of their vintage champagnes

Pioneers in sustainable farming, Louis Roederer use organic practices in all their vineyards, and are certified organic in 115 ha, with the remainder of the estate in conversion. The whole estate uses biodynamic practices and is inspired by the concepts of permaculture.  Working hand in hand with nature, respecting terroir and the pursuit of taste underpins everything they do.

The Brut Nature is a 10 hectare field blend in Cumières of 46% Chardonnay, 37% Pinot noir, 17% Meurnier, it is co-harvested and co-fermented.

23% is fermented in oak. There is no malolactic fermentation and no dosage.

Producer’s Tasting Notes

The bouquet is pure, elegant, vertical, rich and concentrated.  Nuances of ripe fruit combined with exceptional finesse: fine, delicate citrus peel (lemon and orange) and Madagascar vanilla, along with warmer notes of baked apple and Tarte Tatin that gradually give way to aromas of nougat.

The palate offers a marked and singular contrast: it is very expressionist thanks to the broad, juicy, almost sensual texture of the Cumières clay soils, in a sunny year, yet distinctly minimalist due to a fresh, pure, mineral and mouth-watering backbone associated with its zero dosage. Ripe citrus fruit combines with warm stone notes further accentuating the mouth-watering, umami sensation. The finish is light, energetic and ethereal.
