This wine is the finest that Taittinger make. It is 100% Chardonnay and made from grapes picked in five Grand Cru sites. It is kept for eight to ten years on the lees before disgorgement and made only in exceptionally good vintages. A small proportion of the Chardonnay (usually about 5%) is aged in oak barrels during the winemaking. It shows citrus notes of lime, lemon, and tangerine zest, along with toast and fresh brioche. The fruit characteristics on the palate are riper and extend to a touch of fresh peach, nectarine and apricot. Brioche flavours are pleasant on the palate and yield the merest hint of vanilla on a finish of impressive length.
