Buffalo Trace Kosher Rye Recipe is a bold, spicy bourbon at Buffalo Trace Distillery in partnership with the Chicago Rabbinical Council (cRc).
Buffalo Trace use the same high-quality grains as their Bourbon Whiskey to create this Kosher spirit. It is aged in specifically designated Kosher barrels.
To meet Passover requirements, a non-Jewish executive bought these barrels in a ceremony witnessed by a cRc representative.
After ageing for seven years, they bottled this Rye Recipe Bourbon at 47% ABV. They ensured the bottling lines were cleaned beforehand and that then no non-Kosher spirits made contact.
They release this bold and independent Rye Recipe Bourbon each year after Passover, celebrating its heritage from America’s oldest continually-operating distillery.
The balanced taste of this Rye Recipe Bourbon is smooth, yet complex. Hints of fruit and vanilla complement the subtle sweetness.

Producer’s Tasting Notes
Nose: With a sweet and spices opening with lots of fragrance and dried fruits, vanilla and honey with tangy cheeries and sweet baked apple, a touch of cinnamon and crushed almonds, nutmeg, peach and toasted sourdough bread, smoked oak.
Palate: Vanilla honey with a touch of sweet spices, toffee and waffles adding a nice rich smooth not to the opening of the palate, more warming notes of liquorice and crushed black pepper, some of that rich sweet smoked oak from the nose arrives in the mid and late palate, then a touch of melon and mint chocolate chips, some biscotti biscuits and cream.
Finish: Long and lingering with more softly warming spices.
