Vodka is a neutral spirit of Eastern European origin that has been distilled from a product that contains relatively high levels of starch or sugar. Most vodka is made from grain, such as wheat, barley or rye, but it can also be made from other raw materials including corn, molasses, beetroot, potatoes, grapes and milk whey. The traditional vodka producing regions of Eastern Europe and Scandinavia only use grain or potatoes to create their vodka.
