Mezcal Don Ramón Joven Salmiana is a superlative expression of the category.
It is made from 100% Salmiana Agave from Zacatecas, Mexico. This is an uncommon species of agave which imparts a herbal flavour.
Don Ramón has been producing tequila and mezcal for 25 years under the direction of Maestro Tequilero José Reza, using exquisitely detailed methods. The house’s mezcal line therefore aims to capture the true flavour and legacy of Mexican land, creating one of the fastest-growing and evolving spirits categories worldwide.
The fermented aguamiel for this mezcal is double pot-distilled and the spirit is unaged to preserve its inherent complexity. It’s traditional to drink mezcal young, and this bright example is no exception.
This clear spirit embodies the earthen smokiness of mezcal with hints of mint on the nose too. A sip delights the palette with balanced floral and herbal aromas and fresh citrus, then layered with a subtle fruity finish brought forth by the agave.
For each Salmiana Agave harvested, Casa Don Ramón plants two more of the species in its place.
