Brugal 1888 Gran Reserva is a delightfully spicy and chocolatey Dominican rum from a premium producer.
1888 first matures in hand-picked ex bourbon American oak casks, then in European oak, first-fill sherry casks. This blend of two worlds gives 1888 a complex yet smooth flavour profile.
This unique ritual, we call it “The Maestro’s Tip”, reflects our brand origins and how the liquid was conceived by our master blenders.
When slightly warmed (24-26°C), ex-bourbon American oak cask notes are enhanced showing its outstanding complexity with hints of vanilla, coffee, raisins and dates coming to the palate with a long finish. As it cools, the ex-sherry European cask notes then come to the fore with hints of toffee, citrus, red fruits and peach, without losing its characteristic long finish.
Brugal 1888 Gran Reserva shines when enjoyed at the balmy Dominican room temperature.
Tasting Notes
Colour: Dark amber colour slightly reddish, clear and bright.
Nose: Presents multiple aromas that evolve as time goes. Featured spicy, with presence of chocolate, roasting and flavours reminiscent of cinnamon and dried fruit.
Palate: In the palate is nice and soft. Is happy, alive and with a good body. Perceiving caramel flavor, wood and liquorice.
Finish: Remarkably long aftertaste, woody, complex, elegant and slightly sweet.
