Baron de Sigognac 20 Year Old is a fine Armagnac made by one of the oldest family-owned producers.
This brandy contains a blend of brandies that were aged for 20 years minimum. It is bottled by the Guasch family who own one small still that produces 50 to 60 casks of brandy a year. As fine Armagnac ages in barrel, it takes on more spice characteristics.
By the standards of the region, this is a fine brandy – it shows clove, cinnamon, anise, vanilla and nutmeg on the nose and palate. The spice characteristics are met by dried fruits (figs, currants, sultanas) and candied orange peel.
Enjoy Baron de Sigognac 20 Year Old neat in a tulip-shaped glass to allow its complex flavour profile to fully develop. It particularly shines as a digestif.
Tasting Notes
Colour: Smooth brown.
Nose: Dried apricots, plums, sultanas and baking spices.
Palate: A beautiful balance of subtle oak and warmth.
Finish: Long, gentle and lingering with toffee and ground nutmeg.
