Berry Bros & Rudd Exceptional Casks Glen Garioch 1988 Cask #1599 is an ultra-rare Scotch whisky from wine merchant Berry Bros & Rudd’s Exceptional Cask collection of bottlings. This is one of only 202 produced, bottled at a robust 45.4%.

One of the oldest operating distilleries in Scotland – and its most easterly – Glen Garioch (pronounced Geery) has been making its malt in the historic market town of Oldmeldrum, near Aberdeen in North East Scotland, since 1797.

After a period of closure, it reopened in the 1970s. Production has since remained constant.

Glen Garioch usually comes un-peated. However this bottling is from an era when their malt was lightly peated with a phenol specification of 8-10ppm.

Cask: #1599, Cask type: Hogshead

Age: 1988 Years, No. of bottles: 202

Enjoy Berry Bros & Rudd Exceptional Casks Glen Garioch 1988 Cask #1599 neat or with a splash of warm water to fully unlock its complex flavour profile.

Producers Tasting Notes

It gives earthy aromas of highland peat bogs, roasted barley, dark chocolate, honeycomb, leather, and cigar leaf. An exceptionally layered dram.

The palate gives a massive whack of herbaceous peat, resin, oak smoke and tar, moving to dried fruit, cocoa powder and dates.

Spice rises on the finish, giving lasting waves of smoke and then turf.

Limited to 1 per customer.
