Champagne André Robert Les Terroirs 2016 Grand Cru is a luxurious, aromatic champagne with a creamy yet citrusy palate.
The Robert Champagne Estate is above all a family business. The Robert family have been cultivating vines for several generations, and are among France’s finest grower Champagnes.
Their 14 hectare estate in Le Mesnil sur Ogier dates back to the 1900s. Some 85% of land is classified either grand cru or premier cru. All wines are made from estate-owned grapes, raised by the family and cared for sustainably, according to organic principles.
Grapes are harvested by hand, and carefully sorted at the cellar. A gentle press is used. Then, sulphur additions are very modest. This Champagne is entirely vinified in small oak barrels, to give it complexity and richness. It then ages on its lees for 10 months.
Malolactic fermentation is blocked, which helps retain the crispness of this great Champagne. All wines undergo secondary fermentation in bottle in the family’s ancient chalk cellars, located underneath the family home in Mesnil.
