Château d’Yquem Sauternes Premier Cru Supérieur is a premium dessert wine with delightfully sweet notes of mango, ginger and buttered nuts.
Raised to the ranks of Premier Cru Supérieur appellation in 1855, Château d’Yquem is the product of meticulous work in the vineyard. It is the only Sauternes with the classification of Premier Cru Supérieur.
Since its beginnings, it has benefited from an exceptional terroir. It is also made as the result of a unique ancestral know-how since 1593.
There are 113 hectares under vine magnificently overlooking surrounding premier crus classés’ vineyards from Yquem’s hilltop position. Capabable of ageing gracefully for decade upon decade, upon decade, Yquem is an almost magical combination of power, luxuriousness and richness.
This wine has the highest proportion of Sauvignon Blanc in any modern Yquem, adding to the wine’s freshness and balancing the succulently sweet palate. Rich and full with honey, ripe pear, marmalade, barley sugar and just a small note of savoury that provides balance. Intense peach and apricot, combined with lemon and orange zest, make this highly appealing to drink right away. However, it also has powerful aging potential.
