In 1865, John Grant purchased Glenfarclas as an addition to a farm. The name Glenfarclas means “glen of the green grassland,” and the distillery has remained in the Grant family ever since.

The spring water that nourishes the green grass also plays a vital role in creating the distinct flavour of Glenfarclas Highland Single Malt Whisky.

Crystal clear, this water emerges from the granite slopes of Ben Rinnes, a Speyside mountain, and supplies the distillery below.

This water combines with the finest malted barley to create a mash, which is then distilled twice in traditional, direct-fired copper pot stills—the largest in Speyside.

The 12-Year-Old Glenfarclas is matured exclusively in oloroso sherry casks, making it an excellent introduction to the distillery’s signature style.
