Laphroaig 16 Year Old was released to celebrate the 200th anniversary of this long-established distillery on the west coast of Islay.
This is a mellower expression of Laphroaig, slowly matured for 16 years in ex-bourbon casks.

The additional years spent resting in American oak lends notes of leather and vanilla. These complement the signature rich and smoky flavours that Laphroaig whisky is famous for.  It was bottled at 48% abv without chill filtration or added colouring.

It’s a perfect example of how the distillery’s peated whisky ages and matures over time. This dram is an ideal choice for the long evenings of late summer as they transition into the cosy nights of autumn.

It makes an ideal gift for collectors and fans of Laphroaig’s standard 10 year old single malt who want something a little more special.

Enjoy Laphroaig 16 Year Old neat or with a splash of water to fully unlock its complex flavour profile.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Roasted nuts and burning peat, with a slow build of maple syrup on pancakes and vanilla pod.

Palate: Still rich in peat with a touch of iodine. Following this is a subtle floral whisper, fresh citrus, and honeyed barley.

Finish: Coastal salinity and the last embers of a bonfire.
