Pommery Apanage Brut 1874 Champagne is a remarkable blend that captures the rich history and innovation of Maison Pommery.

Like a royal prerogative, the Cuvée Apanage was created as a confidential cuvée dedicated to the culinary arts, a link between the greatest terroirs of Champagne and the finest restaurants in the world. An ideal wine for a fine aperitif, but also an excellent accompaniment to the most delicious dishes in a meal. Creel-caught langoustine with bergamot, red mullet with smoked tea or poultry with fennel and cardamom are examples of pairings perfectly in tune with this cuvée. It is aged for 48 months in Pommery’s historic cellars, with at least a further 4 months of improvement after disgorging.

As part of their exclusive Apanage collection, this luxurious offering pays tribute to the year 1874, when Pommery made history by creating the first-ever Brut Champagne, forever changing the world of sparkling wine.

Pommery’s winemakers craft this cuvée with utmost care, blending the finest Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes from their top vineyards. The Chardonnay brings elegance and freshness, while the Pinot Noir adds structure and depth. They age the wine for an extended period in Pommery’s historic cellars, allowing it to develop its unique complexity and character.

Pommery Apanage Brut 1874 Champagne is the epitome of elegance and refinement. It opens with a bouquet of delicate aromas, including white flowers, citrus zest, and crisp green apple. Subtle notes of brioche and almond add a rich, toasted complexity, a testament to its careful ageing process.

Tasting Notes

On the eye,  pale-yellow hue with golden highlights enchants the eye. The bubbles are fine and delicate.

On the Nose, the first impression is of a bewitching bouquet of white flowers, with hawthorn and jasmine coming to the fore.

This subtle harmony is supported by notes of ripe citrus fruits such as Sorrento lemon. These refreshing aromas gradually open up to more complex, toasty flavours of acacia honey, marshmallow and brioche.

On the palate, the Champagne is vibrant and fresh, with a perfect balance of acidity and minerality.

Layers of flavour unfold, revealing ripe pear, apricot, and a hint of honey.

The fine, persistent bubbles create a creamy texture, leading to a long, graceful finish with lingering hints of citrus and toasted hazelnuts.

Food Pairing

This prestigious Champagne pairs exceptionally well with refined dishes such as oysters, caviar, and lobster.

Its crisp acidity and subtle flavours also complement lighter fare, such as sushi, sashimi, and fresh goat’s cheese.
