Suntory Yamazaki 12 Year Old is Suntory’s flagship single malt whisky, from Japan’s oldest and most renowned malt distillery.
This delightful whisky matured in a combination of Bourbon casks, Oloroso sherry casks and Japanese Mizunara casks, each influencing the final product. This therefore creates a whisky that the Scots would recognise as a single malt and yet manages to be uniquely Japanese.
This fine drop, first coming to the market in 1984, has been refined through time. Today, it boasts a unique floral but zesty character.
Part of the Yamazaki whisky family, Japan’s quintessential whisky, it is made in Japan’s first and oldest malt distillery which was founded in 1923. Yamazaki means “mountain cape”, referencing its unique geographic location – secluded amongst a range of forest covered mountains.
Enjoy Suntory Yamazaki 12 Year Old neat, on the rocks or with a splash of water to fully unlock its complex flavour profile. Overall, a wonderfully mellow, elegant and smooth single malt that’s certainly not lacking in flavour.
Tasting Notes
Colour: Pure gold.
Nose: Peach, pineapple, grapefruit, clove, candied orange, vanilla and oak.
Palate: Coconut, dried fruit, cranberry and butter. Medium-bodied yet powerful.
Finish: Sweet ginger, cinnamon and then a long finish.
