A Sauvignon Blanc for Chardonnay lovers, the te Pā Oke Sauvignon Blanc is a delightful oaked wine with a tropical yet spicy palate with subtle citrus notes.

This unusual wine has consistently seen critical acclaim. In 2024, it featured in James Suckling’s Top 100 Wines of New Zealand. It aged in French oak barrels for 11 months, thus creating a smoky, oaky, rich expression. It boasts refreshing acidity on the palate, and a wonderful sense of integrated oak and balance throughout.

Based in the Marlborough Region, te Pā has a history stemming back almost 800 years. Set up by the MacDonald family whose Maori lineage goes back to 1350, the te Pā estate spreads over 400Ha of vineyards in Marlborough’s Wairau and Awatere regions.

Enjoy te Pā Oke Sauvignon Blanc chilled with fresh seafood or light poultry dishes.

Producer’s Tasting Notes

Aromatically the wine gives impressions of stone fruit, citrus blossom, and tropical notes, all supported by lightly smoked oak with just a hint of flint and vanilla pod.

The palate is equally as complex and generous. Tropical fruits balance bright, aromatic lemongrass and citrus themes.

The oak provides a savoury element to the wine; caramel and vanilla notes combined with toasted cashew and then spice.
