te Pā Reserve Collection Auntsfield Chardonnay is a rich, aromatic oaked white wine with fruity notes complemented by a subtly spicy undertone from one of New Zealand’s premier family wineries.
Based in the Marlborough Region, te Pā has a history stemming back almost 800 years. Set up by the MacDonald family whose Maori lineage goes back to 1350, the te Pā estate spreads over 400Ha of vineyards in Marlborough’s Wairau and Awatere regions.
This wine draws its grapes exclusively from the historic Auntsfield vineyard. It then spends time in oak to develop a truly complex flavour profile.
Enjoy te Pā Reserve Collection Auntsfield Chardonnay with rich fish dishes and white meat like crab crumpet or chicken in a creamy sauce.
Producer’s Tasting Notes
The ‘big brother’ of the winery’s Champion te Pa Chardonnay. White peach and yellow grapefruit aromatics are supported by subtle cashew butter and citrus blossom aromatics.
Some high-quality oak adds a wisp of flinty smoke and some vanilla pod, curry leaf, and butterscotch notes.
The palate is beautifully textured, taut but elegant with a generosity of flavour. Marzipan, preserved lemon, and spice flavours sprinkled over a core of vanilla bean infused Crème Brulée. A delicate oyster shell minerality then gives way to a long lingering finish.
