The Glenturret 10 Year Old Peat Smoke 2022 Release is a rare Highland whisky with a distinctively smoky flavour characteristic of this distillery.
Peat features heavily in Glenturret’s distilling history – records show that The Glenturret dug peat from the moss at its water source for whisky production in the early 1800s.
Having been visited down through the centuries by writers and poets, including Robert Burns, feted by Prime Ministers, Princes, and home to a long honour roll of skilled and dedicated distillers, The Glenturret Distillery has long stood proud at the heart of Scotch Whisky country since 1763.
Today they produce a small amount of peated spirit alongside its non-peated spirit from the same small stills.
The Glenturret 10 Years Old Peat Smoke 2022 Release brings together the two-spirit styles of the distillery. It matures in both first fill and second fill European and American oak casks. The resulting complex whisky commands a higher strength of 50% ABV.
Smoking embers on an open beach fire. A pinch of sea salt. Darker smokiness shows in glimpses. Soft, warm spices and vibrant citrus fruits flicker in the flames. The finish is long-lasting, leaving a lingering warmth and then a final whisper of peat, a testament to the craftsmanship and depth of this 10-year-old gem from The Glenturret distillery.
