The Lakes Single Malt Limited Release IRIS is the latest of The Lakes Distillery‘s The Whiskymaker’s Editions. It is a series of one-off releases showcasing the sense of adventure of their whiskymaker.
The Whiskymaker’s Editions are a series of exceptional diversions from The Lakes sherry-led house style; an expression of creative freedom, the product of a playground where instinct, experience and inspiration roam free. Distillers at first bottled this edition for the Belgian market.
Iris reveals the world in a different light – a prismatic play of colours, aromas and flavours, where everything is turned up to the max and the everyday is suddenly transformed in a vivid multi-sensory explosion of fun. A Himalayan town, Gulmarg, whose name means “meadow of flowers”, inspired The Lakes whiskymaker in creating this batch.
Iris is intensely fruity and floral, a veritable flavour spectrum bursting with freshly-harvested crisp red apple and juicy pear. A fragrant honeysuckle counter melody then punctuates the fruit.
Serve The Lakes Single Malt Limited Release IRIS neat, as part of a whisky-forward classic cocktail, or in an elegant sparkling aperitif.
Producer’s Tasting Notes
Nose: Crisp red apples, fragrant honeysuckle, ripe pears, with hints of rose.
Palate: Ripe orchard fruits, almond flakes and citrus peel.
Finish: Bold, persistent and then uplifting.
