Born on one of the most prestigious estates in Speyside, Tulchan Gin is a ‘London Dry Gin’ that is light in style. It is more subtle on Juniper than many other gins, which allows other Scottish botanicals come to the fore.
Tulchan is crafted in Speyside, one of Scotland’s most important whisky regions, using a small batch method and copper pot stills. The Tulchan estate, where the process takes place, overlooks pristine lochs, moors, glens and of course the inspiration behind their blue tartan bottle, the majestic Spey river.
Distillers weigh the botanicals precisely, many of which, like sloe berries, come from the estate. This ensures consistency as well as a fresh herbal flavour.
This gin boasts notes of oily citrus peels, piney juniper, and gentle cardamom spice. Elderflower and subtle berry sweetness then subtly appear. It’s followed by resin, cardamom and liquorice. The finish is then of medium length, with notes of kumquat and sweet lemon curd.
It’s bottled at a slightly elevated 45% ABV (90 proof) for a pleasantly warming punch.
