Umiki is the world’s first ocean fused whisky brand finished in Japanese pine barrels. This unique production technique also gave the name to Umiki Ocean Tree Whisky. “UMI” means “OCEAN” and “KI” means “TREE” in Japanese. Through its name, Umiki pays homage to the oceans and trees which form such a crucial part of Japan’s natural landscape.
It has won awards including Whisky of the Year from the 2022 Women’s Wine & Spirits Awards. It also achieved the Gold Medal at the 2020 World Whisky Masters.
Umiki is an eco-friendly whisky which aims to preserve and enhance Japan’s natural resources, as well as highlighting their benefits in high-quality whisky production. Japan’s premium whiskies are famous for their delicate and subtle flavours, and this one is no exception.
This is a delicate, delicious blend perfect for Scotch fans. Umiki is best enjoyed neat or on the rocks but can also shine in a simple whisky-forward cocktail like a highball.
Tasting Notes
Nose: resin, pine needles, floral notes, forest freshness, pears, vanilla.
Palate: spice, pepper, acacia honey, caramel, milk chocolate, green bananas.
Finish: red apples, vanilla, pine.
