Woodford Reserve Distillery, a National Historic Landmark, started distilling in 1812. It is crafted from a grain bill of 72% corn, 18% rye and 10% malted barley. This recipe balances the sweetness of corn with the spiciness of rye, and the nuttiness of malted barley, to build the base of this classic bourbon.
Bourbon whiskey must be matured in new oak barrels. Before receiving spirit the inside of the barrels are charred to affect the flavour and colour that is extracted from them.
An innovative approach to twice-barreled bourbon creates the rich and colourful flavour of Woodford Reserve Double Oaked. Uniquely matured in separate, charred oak barrels – the second barrel deeply toasted before a light charring – extracts additional soft, sweet oak character.
