Domaine Gaëlle et Jérôme MEUNIER Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Champ Gain is a fresh and exciting white with notes of melon, pineapple, blossom, and honeysuckle.

Jérôme and Gaëlle both worked in the wine world before starting their vineyard. Jérôme managed a domaine, Gaëlle ran a wine laboratory.

They bought land around Mercurey and bottled their first vintage in 2007.

Subsequently, in 2011, they expanded their estate by taking over 4 hectares of vines in Puligny-Montrachet following the retirement of another winemaker.

The grapes for this Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru are sourced from a parcel situated atop the hillside in Puligny, just above the 1er Cru Folatière. Winemakers harvested them quite early to retain acidity, giving the wine a lean, mineral feel.

Handpicked, the grapes undergo pressing before the juice settles for a few days.

It is then transferred to French oak barrels, with 40% being new and lightly toasted. Indigenous yeasts initiate fermentation, and the wine matures for 12 months in barrel before being blended and bottled. It displays juicy fruit and good acidity, weight, and freshness.

Enjoy Domaine Gaëlle et Jérôme MEUNIER Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Champ Gain young. Alternatively, age it in bottle for complex notes emerging in the next ten years.
