Nautilus Southern Valleys Pinot Noir is a beautifully smooth and fruity New Zealand red from one of the nation’s signature varietals, Pinot Noir.
Family-owned Nautilus Estate, established in 1985, has been at the vanguard of Pinot Noir winemaking in Marlborough for over twenty years, since crafting its first Pinot Noir in 1997. Early plantings of Dijon clones and experimenting with single clone / single site trials led to a rapid appreciation of the potential for this variety in the region.
The Nautilus philosophy is to craft wines that are textural, complex and food friendly. They also aim to respect and showcase the unique Marlborough terroir.
To do this, they take grapes from a handful of specially selected vineyard sites around Marlborough. Each of these contribute different flavours and aromas to the wine.
The resulting blend gives complexity and depth to the Nautilus wines.
Enjoy Nautilus Southern Valleys Pinot Noir with gamey roast meats, lamb shoulder or a salty cheese.
The 2017 Nautilus Pinot Noir is dark ruby in colour. The complex nose displays dark fruits, earthy notes and a touch of toasty spice.
The palate is concentrated and elegant with a fine dense core of tannins and a long savoury finish.
