If you’re a fan of juicy, adventurous new world wines and are keen to try something new, our freshly released Australian Wine Mixed Case is just the thing.
Four different varietals, all finding a unique expression in the warm Australian climate, allow you to get a strong feel for the exciting strides being made in winemaking in Australia’s wine regions.
This case represents two different wineries, Highgate and Harewood.
Highgate wines showcase a selection of classic wines from well-known Australian wine regions. They have a multi-regional presence, developing high-quality parcels of fruit with passionate winemakers into wines that clearly speak of their origin. All their wines are proudly organic.
Harewood, meanwhile, is an estate based in the south of Australia. They aim to showcase the region’s potential in a range of wines produced from grapes grown in select, low yielding vineyards. They’ve won a variety of awards over the years, including the elusive Five Red Stars rating.
This case features:
Highgate Organic Shiraz – a young but impressive Shiraz matured for nine months in older American oak. Moderate tannins and a gentle return of the white pepper support dark fruit, then a medium finish with lingering mulberry notes.
Highgate Organic Chardonnay – a white wine from Hunter Valley with a bold, juicy nose of ripe melon, peach, and apricot. The mouthfeel of the wine is creamy and buttery. Oak aging then makes itself apparent on the palate through vanilla custard flavours.
Harewood Estate Pinot Noir – a blend of several vineyard plots. It’s a wonderfully elegant, fruit driven style of Pinot demonstrating the cooler climate of its region. Red fruits, raspberry and cherry mingle with more complex notes of mocha and delicate spice. The finish is fresh and balanced.
Harewood Estate Riesling – this was sourced from one of the original plantings of Riesling in the Porongurup ranges of Western Australia, and made using only free-run juices. It’s slightly off-dry but offset by bright acidity. It has a lemony, minty palate with elderflower and fresh herbs appearing at the finish.
