Kilkerran Heavily Peated Batch 11 is matured in 90% bourbon and with 10% sherry casks. These casks combine with Kilkerran’s sweet peat style to make for a delectable dram. A typical Campbeltown whisky, there is also a clear maritime influence.

Kilkerran Heavily Peated Batch 11 is produced at the historic Campbeltown distillery, Glengyle, originally founded by the Mitchell family and owned by the J&A Mitchell group since its re-build and resumption of production in 2004.

The Glengyle Distillery in Campbeltown, originally established by the Mitchell family, produces Kilkerran Heavily Peated Batch 11. The J&A Mitchell group has owned the distillery since its reconstruction and the restart of production in 2004.

The distillery prides itself on completing every stage of whisky production on-site. Traditional floor malting is carried out at its sister distillery, Springbank. Each release is bottled at the bottling hall in Campbeltown. Glengyle shares its production team and schedule with the neighbouring Springbank Distillery, operating for a limited period of around three months each year, typically from October to December.

The rich history of Kilkerran’s home, Glengyle, spans from its original establishment in 1872 to the present day.

A departure from the typically lightly peated single malt, Heavily Peated Kilkerran is released twice per year at cask strength and around 45PPM. Distillers then bottled this instalment in 2024 at 57.9% ABV and there is no added colour and no chill filtering.

Tasting Notes

Nose: In typical Kilkerran style, there is a citrus element on the nose with notes of lemon and key lime pie, along with touches of toasted rye bread and peat smoke.

Palate: There are notes of toasted marshmallows and campfire embers immediately on the palate, with hints of vanilla and custard.

Finish: The smokiness carries through to the finish, along with a mineral note to round off this dram
