Amayna Syrah Leyda Valley is one of the first of its kind produced in Chile’s Leyda Valley, a rich and spicy red wine with concentrated fruit flavours.
The Garcés Silva family, who produce this delightful Syrah, have been making wines in the Leyda Valley since 2002. The estate is one of only four in the region and is considered a pioneer of cool climate Chilean viticulture.
This Syrah has benefited from the maritime influence of the Pacific Ocean. Cool breezes moderate the heat of the Chilean sun and keep the fruit characteristics in the wine fresh. The 100% Syrah wine then matured in 60% new French oak.
The spice and toast character from the oak is well matched by the intensity of the fruit characteristics in the wine. Blackberry, accompanied by a bouquet of violets, woodland berries and wildflowers, leaps out at the forefront of the palate. The sleek, silky texture continues through the long, gratifying finish. Very good to drink now but also suitable for ageing for the next few years.
Enjoy Amayna Syrah Leyda Valley with lamb, red meats, pastas, game birds and pasta negra ham. Aerate it for 15-20 minutes before service for an optimal experience.
