Aperol is one of the world’s best loved aperitifs. A less bitter alternative to Campari, it works perfectly mixed with soda or Prosecco.

The Barbieri brothers created Aperol and launched it in 1919 at the Padua International Fair, soon becoming one of Italy’s favourite liqueurs, now taking the world by storm. The original recipe has remain unchanged since 1919.

A true masterpiece of alchemy, Aperol offers a sophisticated, well-rounded taste, only acquired thanks to its infused blend of high-quality fruit, herbs and roots including bitter orange essence, gentian and Chinese rhubarb. Most of these botanicals come from the Piedmont region of Italy, thus giving it a quintessentially Italian taste. It’s lightly alcoholic at 11% ABV and pleasantly bittersweet, with a distinctive bright orange colour.

It’s best enjoyed in its signature cocktail, the Aperol Spritz, a traditional Italian aperitif used to start an evening. Mix 75ml of Prosecco with 50ml of Aperol and 25ml of soda water, then garnish with an orange slice.
