This is a remarkable example of a traditionally-made Vin Santo from Chianti. It is made from grapes harvested from a single 1 hectare vineyard planted with Malvasia di Toscana, Trebbiano Toscano, and San Colombano. The grapes are dried for 3 months before pressing, and aged in 100 litre oak caratelli for 3 years before bottling and a further 3 month maturation at the winery before release. It shows aromas and flavours of dried fig, nuts, sultana, leather, and balsamic hints that make it a wonderful accompaniment to a cheese board. A fine example of a traditionally made fine dessert wine.
Suitable for ageing in bottle for up to 25 years after release.
