Chapel Down Bacchus 2023 is a fresh, aromatic English still white wine using one of the region’s most popular grape varieties.

Bacchus is a hybrid grape with high acidity and a refreshingly fruity flavour profile. It is designed to thrive in England’s cooler climate. Flavour-wise, it’s like a subtler sibling of Sauvignon Blanc.

The gentle pressing of the Bacchus grapes retains the aromatic purity of this wine, which is fermented at cool temperatures, enhancing its aromatic quality. Blending and clarification then takes place after six months on lees in tank.

Produced in Kent, the garden of England, Chapel Down make use of the brilliant Kimmeridgian soils – the same type as in Champagne – and cool maritime climate to produce top-tier sparkling and still wines. Now, they are one of England’s largest wine producers. They source their grapes from across Kent, Essex, East Sussex and Dorset.

Enjoy Chapel Down Bacchus 2023 with seafood, chicken or Thai cuisine. It also shines as an aperitif wine in summer. Serve it chilled for a refreshing experience.

Tasting Notes

A crisp, refreshing white wine with aromas of melon, pineapple, elderflower and grapefruit. The palate is fresh and zesty with flavours of gooseberry and nettle leading to a crisp, dry finish.
