Château Cantemerle 2022 is a powerful and complex Left Bank Bordeaux wine with a long history and a storied flavour profile to match.
With origins that hark back to 1147, Château Cantemerle is one of the oldest estates in Haut-Médoc. The grapes for their wines grow in a 93-hectare vineyard planted in fine, deep gravel. This leads to very ripe grapes which retain their zesty acid levels.
The grapes for this wine – Cabernet Sauvignon (70%), Merlot (20%), Cabernet Franc (5%) and Petit Verdot (5%) – were harvested manually then vinified in wooden, stainless steel and cement vats. The wine then aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, of which 40% were new.
The 2022 vintage was mild and wet, allowing for a rapid flowering and an even veraison. Following this was a hot, dry summer which meant the producers could harvest the grapes early to preserve their freshness and fruity flavours.
Enjoy Château Cantemerle 2022 with duck breast with bacon, cabbage and balsamic dressing. It also shines with robustly-flavoured Alpine cheeses.
Tasting Notes

Palate: The palate delights with its fine tannins, creamy and smooth feel, and its harmonious balance.
Finish: The finish is packed with fruit and delicate minerals.
