Château de Breuil XO “Réserve des Seigneurs” Calvados is a rich and supple apple brandy made in the traditional Normandy style.
It blends bitter and bittersweet apple varieties including Bisquets, Bedan, Petit Joly and St Martin. A small amount of pear juice also lends elegance and depth.
After a meticulous double distillation process, this brandy is aged in oak casks. The cellar manager personally controls it for quality.
The XO “Réserve des Seigneurs” is made from very old Calvados, of at least 20 years old, and among the finest in the producer’s cellars – which are sizeable. It shows a pronounced intensity and a range of sweet spice, toast, vanilla, dried fruit, anise, and caramel characteristics.
Enjoy Château de Breuil XO “Réserve des Seigneurs” Calvados in a tulip-shaped glass at room temperature to allow its flavours to fully develop. It particularly shines as a digestif after a luxurious meal.
Tasting Notes
Colour: Mahogany.
Nose: Intense, powerful, and complex, with notes of leather and dry tobacco. It then opens up with aromas of roasting and bitter cocoa.
Palate: A bold and explosive attack with notes of leather, ripe quince, and plum, evolving into a slightly peppery finish, followed by a lingering taste of tobacco and licorice.
