Château Lamourette Sauternes is a classic French dessert wine with a beautiful aromatic profile of ripe and candied fruits, as well as tertiary hints of ginger and marmalade.
This tiny Domaine, covering only 10 hectares, is truly an artisanal producer where everything is done by hand. The Leglise family run the estate and have passed down the secrets of their winemaking from mother to daughter.
This wine is made using Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc grapes which have been affected by Botrytis, also known as Noble Rot. Winemakers hand harvest the grapes over multiple ‘tries’. The harvest typically begins in mid-to-late September and continues on in three or four parts to allow all parcels time to let Botrytis run its course. The grapes are then fermented in stainless steel to preserve the fruit profile. The wines are then aged partly in barrel to add complexity and partly in tank.
This wine displays complex aromas and flavours of dried mango, marmalade and quince alongside perfectly balancing acidity. Drinking beautifully now and will evolve as the years pass.
