Based in Charnay-les-Macon, Vins Auvigne produce a number of top Maconnais wines. The Pouilly-Fuisse is no exception. It is made from Vieilles Vignes (old vines) of an average of 66-72 years old. These old vines produce a small crop but of a high quality and concentration of flavour. The wine is fermented for one year in oak barrels with 8 months being taken up with regular battonage. Roughly 70% of the wine is taken through full malolactic conversion so as to balance the creaminess of the body with the toastiness of the oak and the fresh fruitiness of the varietal character. Lots of rich brioche, vanilla and toast flavours mingle with fresh peach, lemon and green apple. Velvety smooth and structured with refreshing acidity.
