Château Puybarbe Côtes de Bourg is a rich and luscious red Bordeaux with smooth tannins and a nose of ripe blackberry and blueberry.
Château Puybarbe is situated at the highest elevation of the Côtes de Bourg appellation overlooking the right bank of the Gironde estuary.
The 41-hectare vineyard, which has vines dating back several centuries, comprises predominantly Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. It is farmed according to sustainable philosophies.
Château Puybarbe uses no herbicides or chemical fertilisers and has been both HVE (High Environmental Value) and ISO 14001 certified since 2017.
This full-body wine is a blend from a selection of the winery’s best wines. It then ages for 18 months in French oak barrels.
It displays a superb deep and intense colour, dresses this balanced blend between the Merlot and the Cabernet Sauvignon. At the first nose, the sixteen months of barrels appear through a wood brioche style. Then, the aeration reveals aromas of ripe black fruit. The palate is tender, suave and dense, leaning against superb velvety tannins.
The wine’s varietal makeup is 54% Merlot and 42% Cabernet Sauvignon, with small percentages of Malbec and Cabernet Franc.
Enjoy this wine with rich roasted meat dishes like beef, venison or even goose.
