Doorly’s 14 Year Old is a cask blend of 14 year old Bourbon and Madeira aged rums, bottled at 48% ABV without the addition of any sweetener or flavourings. It balances the finesse of Pot and Column distilled rum in a delicate harmony.
Doorly’s have been producing rum on the island of Barbados since 1920. They were the first rum brand ever exported from the island. It hails from the famous Foursquare distillery and is one of the few remaining family-owned rum producers.
14 years of ageing has done this rich tipple rather well, as it’s full of tropical fruit, toffee apple and ginger notes.
It shows the combination of tropical fruit, chocolate-y richness and dried fruits that have made Foursquare a favourite of rum drinkers the world over.
Overall, Doorly’s 14 Year Old is a delicious rum which equals any whisky or brandy. It’s perfect for sipping neat, over ice or using to create delicious cocktails like a Daiquiri.
The palate displays sweet spices, rich oak and some dark chocolate and marmalade. Dark fruits like prunes and blackberries appear too.
The finish is long and warming, with Madeira, charred oak and cinnamon coming through.
