E.Guigal La Doriane Condrieu showcases the finesse and richness that have made the Northern Rhône’s Condrieu appellation famous.
Made exclusively from 100% Viognier grapes, sourced from 35-year-old vines across five premier vineyards, this wine exemplifies both the varietal’s elegance and the region’s unique terroir.
The winemakers vinify and mature the wine entirely in new oak barrels for 12 months, enhancing its complexity and depth. This meticulous craftsmanship elevates the natural richness of the Viognier grape, producing a wine of exceptional refinement and minerality.
While highly enjoyable upon release, the 2022 La Doriane will continue to develop further complexity with cellaring. It is expected to age gracefully for up to a decade, rewarding those who choose to wait.
In the glass, the wine dazzles with a brilliant pale golden hue, showcasing its vibrancy and purity.
The nose is intensely aromatic yet refined, offering a bouquet of white flowers, apricot, and ripe peaches. Delicate hints of orange blossom, honey, and mineral notes add depth, while subtle traces of vanilla and cedar reflect the influence of ageing in new oak barrels.
On the palate, La Doriane is rich and full-bodied, delivering a silky texture that coats the mouth beautifully. Flavours of ripe apricot, peach, and melon dominate, balanced by subtle undertones of vanilla and a touch of coffee bean. Despite its opulence, the wine remains fresh and well-balanced, avoiding any sense of heaviness.
The finish is exceptionally long and persistent, leaving lingering notes of vanilla, coffee, and a minerality reminiscent of warm stones.
